The RAPIDO PODIA is a modern fusion using tried and tested technology and clinical collaboration to produce a cost-effective and easy to use device able to treat several conditions related to foot & ankle, promoting healing and avoiding symptoms recurrence.
In todays` podiatry clinic, a medical laser is useful, being versatile and valuable tool in various fields of practice, not only for its therapeutical features but also for the selective action in tissue vaporisation.
The Rapido Podia Laser is a class 4 medical diode laser developed to support podiatrists in practice. It can supply light radiation at high energy to the area of application via an optic fibre. The laser works on the 1064nm wavelength to ensure excellent performance with maximum safety and immediate results.
Hand Pieces for the Rapido Podia
Vaporisation – Optical tips – this allows you to contact the tissues, providing vaporisation and haemostasis.
Semi-contact vaporisation – Digital vaporisation – FIXO head –has been designed to allow the safe coagulation of tissues without contact with the target. This pluggable accessory keeps the laser beam in the micron range to prevent damage to surrounding tissues.
Contact therapy – large and small area heads – Bell, BIO and Hat-top.
The Bell handpiece is used for large areas and is suitable for treating inflammatory conditions and pain. The beam spot diameter is 22mm – defocalised.
The BIO handpiece is used on small areas, the reduced spot enables you to treat small areas or affected nails and provides trigger point stimulation.
The hat-top handpiece is a universal handpiece for many different therapies. It can be used in the treatment of large and small areas.
Optional -The DIRECTO handpiece is designed to deliver a uniform spot obtained from the top-hat beam shaper capable of transmitting energy to surfaces over 1cm2 .
Therapeutic modalities
Treatments available
The Rapido Podia comes with preset treatment modalities to allow the practitioner to treat the following conditions. The Laser comes with a clinical booklet to support the clinician within the clinic.
· Verrucae,
· Corns and IPK
· Coagulation of soft tissue during nail surgery – an alternative to phenol for the matrixectomy.
· Onychomycoses,
· Msk conditions – plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, metatarsalgia
· Diabetic foot wounds to reduce bacteria burden and wound size.
Pain Therapy - The Rapido- Podia uses Photo-biomodulation to stimulate or inhibit cellular function depending on the intensity, application and target tissue. The boost of ATP production and protein synthesis provides modulation of the cellular membrane, in turn giving the patient pain relief and reduction in local inflammation.
Wound care - Through the interaction with the mitochondrial membrane, nitric oxide is released into the blood stream, causing vasodilation allowing leukocytes and keratinocytes to migrate to the area of treatment. Resulting in a reduction of bacterial burden, biofilms therefore improving the wound environment for healing.
Vaporisation – Laser light has the capacity to interact with soft tissue, therefore, it can perform vaporisation of the target tissues as well as haemostasis. This is accomplished through using the Yellow optical tip
Glasses are included when purchasing the laser - CE marked, indicating compliance to the Personal Protective Equipment Regulations [12] and BS EN 207: compliant laser safety eyewear.
