As well as correcting the shape of the toenail, the B/S Spange nail brace kit can also be used to control re-growth after nail surgery.
How does a Toenail Brace work?
The B/S Spange Quick Toenail Brace Set Complete works by gently applying tension to the sides of the curved or ingrown toenail. The composite nail brace is applied to the nail plate of the patient, and will then stay in place for around 4 weeks whilst the nail grows out and corrects itself. Depending on the severity of the ingrown or involuted toenail, multiple applications may need to be made, as some cases will require the patient to wear a toenail brace for up to 6 months.
Our B/S Spange Quick Toenail Brace Set Complete nail bracing set comes with everything you need to sterilise the area and apply the toenail brace properly. The kit includes:

What should the patient avoid before being treated with a toenail brace?
To help the brace stay in place, patients should follow the following guidance before getting nail bracing:
• No foot baths
• No wet grinding
• No nail polish remover
• No application of oils and lotions
• No disinfectants
Why is the B/S Brace not sticking to the patient’s toenail?
Issues with the b/s toenail brace bonding to the patient’s foot can be due to several problems. To ensure effective and secure placement of the brace, avoid applying it to diseased nails, such as those suffering from fungal disease, psoriasis, or onycholysis. You should also ensure that the glue used is in date (see cap for expiration date) and that the right amount of glue has been applied.
The adhesion of the glue can also be weakened from repeated re-correcting of the brace. It is therefore important that you precisely position the brace before application to avoid re-correction. You should also avoid contacting the glue with the cleaner and activator included in the pack. Using more than one drop of the b/s cleaner can affect adhesion, whilst the glue can become stringy if combined with the b/s activator.
To ensure correct and secure application, thoroughly read the user manual before attempting application on the patient.
When will nail surgery need to be considered for the patient?
If the patient suffers from a severe ingrown toenail, it may be difficult to apply the toenail brace and keep it secure, in this instance, toenail surgery may be the best option for the patient in order to permanently treat the toenail.
As well as this, surgery may also be the best option for those who suffer from persistent and repeat infections where toenail braces in the past have not been able to resolve the issue.
Can you use the B/S brace for small nails, such as children’s nails, fingernails, or other toe nails.
Can you use the B/S brace for small nails, such as children’s nails, fingernails, or other toe nails.
For smaller nails, apply the smallest brace size and grind the brace so that it is much thinner. This can be done from either the left or right side of the brace, but it should always be done from the rough side of the brace. The B/S toenail brace should not be applied to children under the age of 6.
What is the difference between the B/S Spange Quick Toenail Brace Set and B/S Classic Nail Brace Set
While both products help correct ingrown and curved toenails through applying pressure and structure to the toe, the B/S Classic Nail Brace Set has a more in-depth and controlled application process, requiring an applicator tool and several extra steps.
